“I purchased my new Whirlpool refrigerator at Lowes Home Improvement Center. This is an excellent refrigerator in all aspects. It has a modern, sleek design, is built well, stays very cool, produces alot of ice, and dispenses ice cold water. The unit is nice and bright on the inside, thanks to the enhanced lighting both in the upper and lower portions of the refrigerator. I also like the fact that the freezer has a light on the inside, well placed, and I am easily able to see what I have stored. “I had this refrigerator for 1 week. So far so good. I did a lot of research before purchasing this one. I choose Whirlpool because it is a lot more reliable than other brand.
My toughest decision was to whether buy stainless steel or Satina. I read a lot of reviews and it seemed people who bought stainless steel of any brands have regrets because of the maintainence. These people include my sister and my sister-in-law. I checked four refrigerators from whom I know that have it for 1-2 years. The Satina looks as good as the day they bought them and the other two stainless steel look awful.
I am so happy I got the Satina. All I have to do is to wipe it with wet clothes lightly and it looks spotless.
The ice bucket on the door is a nice feature because it frees up some space in the freezer.
The freezer does not have as many shelves as I’d like.
The drawers on the refrigerator side is somewhat shallow. The reason is that it give more space for the door storage.
The water dispense comes in handy to fill up water bottle. The water comes out of the filter taste good. (no funny taste).
I choose monochromatic (which means that the side is gray and the water/ice dispenser is silver.). I didn’t like huge black side of the other refrigerators. The monochromatic gives a handsome uniformed look.
I am very happy with my decision. Did I mentioned I am so glad that I didn’t get the stainless steel version? I save some money going for the Satina. Yet, it looks way better and I know it will look way better years from now.”

“We needed a new refrigerator as our old Maytag was not cooling as well as should have, that one lasted 12 years, 3 moves and 2 kitchen renovations, not bad.
I hope this Whirlpool does just as well, and only time will tell.
Anyway, we purchased this model as it was the size we were looking for. And there was $100 in rebates as well. It’s not energy star rated but it uses less power than our old model.
It has plenty of shelf space. But this is a basic model, no frills at it’s finest.
It only has one light bulb in the refrigerator compartment.
It did not come with ice trays and a ice holder.
And there is exposed fasteners giving it a cheap look.
I had to salvage the old trays and holder from our old Maytag before it was taken away.
But it does as it was designed to do, and we have found that by keeping the temp control on normal, it keeps everything nice and cold.”

“I purchased this refrigerator 4 months ago. Although it is located in the basement where it is cool, and set at the coldest setting, the freezer will only go down to 3 degrees! (According to all reports a freezer should be at ZERO degrees for max. food safety, food quality and storage time.
Other than that, I’m quite pleased with it. It’s a great size (not too large or small) so can be used as a counter depth refrigerator and has reasonable features.”

“I purchased this sight unseen (big mistake) for new construction from my cabinet guy. I wanted the bottom-mount freezer without spending a ton of money. Whirlpool has been around for years and is reputable so I went with them. The refrigerator is noisy so I hope the compressor holds up. The ice maker works great! It has a lot of storage inside and the freezer has a lot of room too.”

“We originally intended to replace our old fridge with a bottom freezer model. After a few weeks of research and store visits this model side by side emerged as the better choice for us.
Slightly wider and quite a bit deeper than our original unit, it offers significantly more storage. The fridge side door has various bins and gallon storage, etc. That door channels cooled air to keep liquids colder. Crispers include one with temp control. The tempered glass shelves have drip trays to catch spills and slide out to get to items in the back without unloading. The freezer includes wire bins on bottom as well as the glass shelves and since the icemaker is in the freezer door more space is available for storage on the upper shelf.
The thing that sets this model apart is the icemaker / water dispenser. The door mounted icemaker is available across the Whirlpool Gold line and in the Kenmore badged Whirlpool products. The difference in this particular model is that it offers a larger fill panel. The panel has a taller cutout in the door to accommodate pitchers and tall glasses. The bottom of the panel pulls out to allow oversized containers to be placed firmly for filling and the water spout spins out to make filling large vessels spill proof. My wife and I are coffee crazy and filtered water is a must for us. This filling arrangement and the PUR filter system that delivers the water are perfect. We place the 10 cup carafe on the panel tray, swing the spout around and program 48 oz of water and it delivers a filtered, measured amount.
Due to its large size, icemaking requires attention. Just placing the glass in the recess and pushing it against the trigger switch will result in cubed or crushed ice on the floor because the tall recess requires that the glass be held up to the dispenser. Takes a little retraining if you are used to setting the glass down for filling.
We have had it in the house for almost a year. The twice a year filter change was simple. It’s just below the freezer door and pops right out.
No problems to date. We are both happy with this Whirlpool.”

“We recently installed granite countertops in our kitchen and decided it was time to upgrade our appliances. Initially interested in a lower-priced Whirlpool Gold model, in the end we determined the additional features of this particular model (basically the same as the GS6NVEXSQ) were worth the extra pricetag for the way our family lives.
Upfront, I’d like to state we did not go for Stainless Steel. We went for Satina which is a Stainless-look. We felt there were some key DISadvantages of a stainless steel fridge… 1) you can’t put magnets on stainless (magnets are essential for us!) and 2) stainless shows every single fingerprint (even the most diligent of neatniks will have trouble keeping a stainless steel fridge free of smudges and fingerprints when you have kids). The Satina doesn’t look just-as-nice as stainless… in my opinion it looks better! But that’s subjective and each has to make their own decision.
One of the key selling features of this model is the In-door-Ice ice dispensing system. I love how Whirlpool has incorporated an in-the-door ice/water dispenser without sacrificing one bit of interior freezer shelf space. Previously we had a GE Profile refrigerator and the loss of freezer shelf space to accommodate the ice maker was a real problem for us. If you get a chance to see this model in person… definitely check it out because having all the freezer shelves available for storage (and not taken up by the icemaker) really makes a tremendous difference!!
Another key selling feature is the In-Door-Air cooling system. Cold air from the freezer is directed into the refrigerator door, providing extra cooling power for milk and other sensitive items. The air flow is fully adjustable, providing door storage as cold as the rest of the refrigerator. This is a real plus for our family!
Other key selling features are a part of the in-door water dispensing system… 1) Fast Fill dispenses filtered water VERY quickly 2) Measured Fill lets me program how much filtered water is dispensed… I can select the measurement in liters, cups or ounces making it very convenient when filling for a recipe meaning I don’t have to do the conversions… yay!! 3) Rotating Faucet is great when trying to fill a non-standard size/shape container such as a pasta pot or iced-tea pitcher… I can rotate the water dispenser up to 180 degrees around in order to hit the mark with ease! 4) Slide-Out Dispenser Tray provides a small shelf for me to rest the coffee-pot or lemonade pitcher on while the water is dispensing and 5) the EZ-tote door bins make it easy for me to keep all the burger-n-dog condiments in one spot and just quickly and easily remove the bin and take it to the table… this is great for us since my husband loves to grill and the kids really love to eat! No more searching high and low to find the ketchup, mustard, pickles, etc and carry them to the table… just remove the bin with the condiments and carry it to the table. Easy breezy!
I don’t find this refrigerator to be noisy at all. Replacing the water filter is easy as it is located along the bottom left front panel (thus not taking up and precious real estate inside the fridge). Adjusting the temperature of the fridge or the freezer is super easy and intuitive. The ice making quality is great – both cubed and crushed. The freezer and fridge compartments are spacious while not feeling cavernous. Overall this is a terrific refrigerator loaded with features that work well in real-life situations.
I have no complaints and would recommend this model!!”
