“We have owned our refrigerator for three months and have enjoyed it very much. Was disappointed that the sides were white with the door the only stainless steel part of the exterior. We did not want to enclose the unit and thought the unit would be like the ones we have in our restaurant. It is built very solid and have very nice features such as the sliding shelves and sturdy drawers. The interior light is a nice addition with its gradual brightness. The temperature setting is solid and does not fluctuate. The air filter seems to have done a good job and removes odors of most offensive foods.
The downside is, when using all included shelves, having tall items creates storage problems. Shelves are better suited for shorter items with the main storage for tall items on the door. This was overcome by sizing storage containers, which are actually better for controlling temperature.
Looking forward to getting freezer to match in the future.”

“We’ve been using our Side by Side Electrolux Icon Refrigerator for about 1.5 years now, having bought it at the Great Indoors for our kitchen remodel. The refrigerator is one of the sleeker side-by-side stainless models with a very attractive stainless-steel water and ice dispenser on the freezer door. (many comparable brands feature a black dispenser and/or black handles)
Side Note: I chose side-by-side model because the doors are fairly narrow and don’t have a deep swing. Also, I have compared this fridge with the French-door model (with a bottom freezer) and decided that a freezer drawer would become very unorganized quickly. The freezer compartments on a side-by-side are easy to organize and pull-out drawers and shelves provide quick access to food.
Some of the desirable features of the Electrolux Icon E23CS78ESS are:
1) Design features: Stainless side-by-side doors with integrated stainless handles–very contemporary and high-end look. Also, this counter-depth model practically looks built-in to my fridge cabinet since a strip of moulding covers the small space between the top of the fridge and the cabinet.
2) Digital temperature control of freezer and fridge inside the unit. Display shows current temperature as well as easily adjustable up or down
3) Water filter cartridge: When the green light indicator stays on, it’s time to change your filter! I found out the hard way… (see my Review of the Pure Source 2 Filter Cartridge for details!)
4)Ice: Ice maker and crushed/cubed ice on the door–takes awhile to make ice at first, but once it accumulates I have not had a problem with cubes jamming in the dispenser as in my old fridge
5) Size: about 23 cubic feet on the inside of fridge/freezer combined. It is not too deep to allow leftover containers to get lost and moldy in the “way back”. 6) Energy Star * Compliant– this feature cost about $200 more than the other Electrolux model and I think it’s definitely worth the upgrade.
7) Noise: Very happy to say that the machine runs quietly and unobtrusively.
Some things I don’t like about the model:
1) Cleaning: Difficult to remove drawers for cleaning, although shelves are easily removed and adjusted (the top shelf adjusts up or down by turning a crank handle)
2) Condiment Storage: Not a generous amount of space on the door for condiments. As a result, I find myself buying less condiments at the grocery store…
3) Loading: Be careful loading the freezer, because if items stick out just a little, the freezer door will not fully seal. This almost imperceptible leakage will cause the freezer temp to drop or raise significantly (the unit seems to be trying extra hard to regulate the freezer compartment temperature)
4) Problems: When the unit was first installed, the freezer door was not level and my vendor (Sears) ordered me another door. The door was switched out in about a week and I am satisfied with the result.
I almost required another service call recently when the refrigerator compartment kept raising temperature for apparently no reason. I discovered a leaky seal in the freezer compartment due to misplacement of items on the door. Just as I was about to schedule the repair service, the fridge temp gradually lowered on its own and I have not had a problem since.
So, I’m keeping fingers crossed for the longevity of my Electrolux Icon Stainless Steel Side-by-Side Refrigerator. As long as the doors are sealed and items are properly placed, the appliance does a good job of regulating its temperature. And I’m a happy camper!”

“I bought this refrigerator because my old one died just about 4 months before we start remodeling our kitchen.  We love it so much, we plan to buy the entire Electrolux line of appliances because of the excellent quality, performance and style.
This 25.9 cubic foot refrigerator is amazingly quiet, has great storage and I love the digital features.  So far there isn’t a single thing about this refrigerator that I can complain about.
One thing you should know is this stainless steel grade is the same as all the other high end appliances such as Viking, Thermadore, Wolf and Subzero.  It is often difficult to find out the grade of stainless for most appliacnes because they just don’t advertise this information.  That being said, putting this high grade stainless next to a lesser grade stainless appliance will look slightly different in color depending on the lighting in your kitchen.
Another thing you may be interested, while the front of the refrigerator is stainless steel, the sides are not…thankfully its aluminum and not vinyl like some of the other brands out there.  You’ll find this especially important since this refrigerator is NOT counter depth and your sides will be visable. You cannot tell the difference between the metal on the sides and the front of the refrigerator.  You may even like the fact that you can stick magnets on the sides of the refrigerator which you cannot do with the front (stainless steel is not magnetic).
If you have to remove the doors to get this gigantic refrigerator in the house or your kitchen, be careful.  There is a water line and an electric line in the doors that will need to be disconnected and you do not want to damage them.
The shelves in this refrigerator are made of tempured glass and not plexiglass so you must be extra careful when you take them out to clean.  There are three pull out drawer levels (one is split), each level is separated by glass. To clean the bottom drawer, you must remove all the other shelves.
The digital screen on the water dispenser is wonderfully informative.  This is the “IQ Touch” screen, not the “Wave Touch” line.  IQ versions have the choices always shown on the screen, wave touch means that the choices only show when touched.  Here you will set all of your choices for ice (crushed or cubed), and set your temperature for the freezer and the refrigerator.  The screen will also let you know when the refrigerator or freezer goes above or below the preset temperature both on the screen and by sounding an alarm (which can be muted while cleaning).
The icemaker is inside the freezer, not the freezer door like some other brands.  The dispenser is on the outside of the freezer door so if you have children, be sure to keep a towel or sponge under the pushbar because there is no drain or collection cup.
This refrigerator weighs approximately 350 lbs. so it is a good idea to leave delivery to the professionals and not take this one home yourself.
If you are intersested in replacing your old refrigerator, be sure you have enough space for this very large refrigerator.  The meausrements are:
